Our monthly book club and writing group will be on the following dates:
You are welcome to come to both the writing group and book club or one or the other. Please don't be put off coming if you didn't finish the book, you can still join in the discussion or listen to others chat about it.
6:30 - 7:30 Creative Writing Session (all skill levels)
Local poet Carson Wolfe, will be reading from their collection Coin Laundry at Midnight which centres themes of motherhood, queerness, sex work, patriarchy, feminism, all the good stuff. They will be leading the writing group with some writing prompts.
Carson Wolfe is a Mancunian poet and Grand Prize Winner of The Disquiet Literary Program 2024. Their work has appeared with POETRY, The Rumpus, The Common, and Rattle. In 2023, they won New Writing North’s Debut Poetry Prize, received awards from The Aurora Poetry Prize, The Edward Thomas Fellowship, and were longlisted in The Poetry Society’s National Competition. They are the author of two chapbooks, Boy(ish), and Coin Laundry at Midnight.
We then take a short 5 minute break before chatting about that month's book. The conversation is informal and everyone's perspective is welcome but the conversation will be guided, so that everyone has a chance to speak if they want to. There will be questions and prompts to get the conversation going if people are feeling stuck.
